Wendy W. Claiser is the Program Coordinator for Career Studies & Employment Services at the University of Delaware Center for Disabilities Studies. Wendy is also the Co-Instructor of a Mentoring Course for students at the University minoring in Disabilities Studies. She has worked with both youth and adults with disabilities for over 40 years as a teacher, reading specialist, residential counselor, program developer, business liaison and consultant across the U.S. With additional education in marketing and journalism, she spent several years working for corporations and creating "business models" of inclusion. In 1997, she and her husband developed and operated a national agricultural construction company, hiring and training youth with disabilities. She also served as a Projects With Industry Director for three years in Central NY. Her current interests are in the development and dissemination of educational materials and provision of training for employers in working with individuals with disabilities. Wendy is currently completing research in the area of the roles of families of young adults with intellectual disabilities. Wendy received her Bachelor of Science in Education in 1973 from University of the Pacific, Stockton CA. and in Spring 2012, will receive a M.Ed. in Exceptional Children & Youth.
