Meier began her career teaching Early Childhood Special Education, with a focus on teaching children who had been diagnosed with an Autism Spectrum Disorder. She then served as an Education Coordinator/Special Education Director 504/Supervisor for an alternative school. Meier has experience providing a variety of training and technical assistance in the areas of healthcare transition, individual healthcare plans, austim spectrum disorders, severe and challenging behavior, social skills programming and education programming. 

Service:
Emily A. Meier is an Instructor and Training and Technical Assistance Specialist at the USD Center for Disabilities and Sanford School of Medicine. She works extensively in the areas of Healthcare Transition and Individual Healthcare Plans. Meier instructs pediatric residents, genetics professionals and nurses in best practice strategies in caring for patients with disabilities, significant medical conditions, chronic health conditions and genetic disorders. She also serves as a trainer, consultant, and Technical Assistance Coordinator for the Autism Spectrum Disorders Program and Department of Education across the state of South Dakota.
