April Mitsch is a Registered Dietitian/Nutritionist with over twenty years' experience with a clinical focus in supporting pregnancy, lactation, child growth and development and medical education. During work in a neonatal intensive care center, she is proud of developing a clinical guideline for the use of pasteurized donor milk & work on the WHO baby friendly hospital Initiative. After many years working with breastfeeding mothers', she became an IBCLC and turned her focus to infants and children with complex feeding and swallowing disorders. Now an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at Oregon Health & Science University in Portland, Oregon working for the Institute for Developmental Disabilities. She works to help families of medically fragile infants & children with complex health needs reach the most natural and safe feeding method possible to support growth, development and optimal nutrition. April is active in educating future health care professions in pediatric feeding disorders, infant feeding, pediatric nutrition and is excited to accept the position of LEND Nutrition faculty.
