Harris S. Huberman MD MPH

Dr. Huberman is a developmental pediatrician, and Director of the Department of Pediatrics’ Division of Child Development at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University, as well as the Clinical Director of the Brooklyn LEND (Leadership Education in Neurodisabilities) program.  Besides training residents and medical students in child development and behavior, evaluating and treating children with development, learning and behavioral problems (including Autism Spectrum Disorders) and doing early childhood research, Dr. Huberman’s interests include health disparities and ways to ensure that developmental evaluation and treatment modalities and resources are equally available to all socioeconomic groups and communities – both in the United States and around the world – hence his interest in public health and its intersection with child development; training for health workers in early child development approaches, preventive parenting programs to improve parent-child interaction and developmental outcomes for children living in poverty; and international health.
