Patricia A. Prelock is Professor in the Department of Communication Science, and Co-PI for the Autism LEND Grant through the VT-ILEHP Program. Recently, she was named Dean for the College of Nursing & Health Sciences at the University of Vermont. She is also PI for the Vermont State Improvement Grant-SLP-Distance Learning Initiative. She teaches graduate courses in language learning disabilities, autism, and neurodevelopmental disabilities. Her research interests include evaluating the efficacy of interdisciplinary practice and the nature and treatment of autism, including the use of social stories and peer play to facilitate social communication in children with autism spectrum disorders. Dr. Prelock serves on the Editorial Board or as an Editorial Consultant for 11 national and international professional journals. She has over 355 presentations and 102 publications. She is a board recognized child language specialist and received the 1998 Friends Award through the Vermont Parent Information Center and the first Annual Autism Society of Vermont Excellence in Service Award in 2000, was named an ASHA fellow in 2000, received the 2000 Kroepsch-Maurice Excellence in Teaching Award and was named a University of Vermont Scholar in 2003.
