I began my journey in the vision field in September of 1996 when I started working at Perkins School for the Blind in Watertown, Massachusetts. I worked in the Lower School residential program with children who had visual impairments and oftentimes, various other physical, behavioral and cognitive challenges. While there, I took classes at UMASS Boston and Boston College. I earned my Master of Education with a Certificate in Low Incidence Disabilities in May of 2001. In September 2001, I began working as a certified Teacher of Students with Visual Impairments in Rhode Island. In September of 2008 I took a job at the Paul V. Sherlock Center as a certified Teacher of Students with Visual Impairments for RIVESP. During my time at the Sherlock Center, I have worked in several different school districts across the state, with Pawtucket and Johnston being my primary focus. I received my certification in Cortical/Cerebral Visual Impairments from UMASS Boston in December of 2022.
