People with lived experience as end users of human service systems must be at the forefront of policy research and technical assistance that improves those systems. Human services systems include intellectual and developmental disability support systems, systems to support older adults and people with physical disabilities, brain injury programs, and other publicly funded service systems that provide support to people with disabilities. In keeping with the mantra, “Nothing about us without us,” Human Services Research Institute has created a Grassroots Advocacy Fellowship. This is an opportunity for professional and personal development of emerging leaders with lived experience of the human services policies and systems we seek to improve.
