This year marks the 10th anniversary of the ABLE Act, a groundbreaking law that allows individuals with disabilities to save money in tax-advantaged ABLE accounts without affecting their eligibility for essential benefits like Medicaid or Supplemental Security Income (SSI). Our UCCEDD has a unique connection to this milestone: Anne Gerhardt, the daughter of our policy specialist Jane Gerhardt, was the first person to open a STABLE (Ohio's ABLE) account in the country! We continue to champion policies like ABLE that support financial independence and inclusion.
