Megan Fayard, PATHS Class of '23

May 16, 2024

Hi, my name is Megan Fayard. In May 2023, I graduated from PATHS, with a certificate as Direct Support Paraprofessional. My classes at A&M and my internship at Charlotte Sharp Children’s Center really helped prepare me for working as a teaching assistant. I applied for lots of jobs and had several interviews, and luckily, I got a job in my dream district, Round Rock ISD, and in my dream grade level, Pre-K. I am working as a paraprofessional at Bluebonnet Elementary school and love it. I really enjoy being in a pre-K classroom because they’re always active. There’s always something going on and I really like being on the go.

I should also share that I have low vision and use a Guide Dog named Finn.  All of my students at Bluebonnet love and talk about my Guide Dog. It’s been great to teach 4 and 5 year olds what a service animal is, so now they understand he’s working and respect the boundaries that come along with a service animal. The students enjoy having him in our classroom even when he’s just asleep.

At PATHS, I learned to live on my own in an apartment and got good at using the bus system. Now, I live in an apartment near my job and am able to walk to work each day. I don’t have to worry about traffic, and I get to see my students walking to school and say hello. It’s a really fun way to start off my day.”
