The City of College Station Presents Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month Proclamation

April 22, 2025

The City of College Stated presented the Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month Proclamation at the city council meeting on March 27. Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month (DDAM) was established by President Ronald Reagan in 1987 and is observed annually in March. The month aims to highlight the importance of community inclusion, accessibility, and opportunities for people with developmental disabilities. The National Association of Councils on Developmental Disabilities and its partners collaborated to lead Developmental Awareness Month. The 2025 theme is "We're Here All Year," emphasizing that people with developmental disabilities should be recognized and supported every day, not just in March.

Dr. Morgan Foster is an Assistant Professor and Extension Health Specialist with Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service, specializing in disability and community health. She leads the AgriLife Extension Disability Community Coordinators Initiative in partnership with the Texas Council for Developmental Disabilities, working alongside County Extension agents to engage and support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities across Texas. Dr. Foster also serves as affiliate faculty with the Texas A&M University Center on Disability and Development (TAMU CDD), where she works to expand statewide partnerships and increase access to the Texas Faith and Disability Network.
