Positve Behavior Support: How We Define It and Implications for State Policy & Practice

All states provide behavior supports to people served by their I/DD system. However the specific focus, qualifications for providers, degree to which it represents positive behavior support, and framework for service provision varies considerably across states. This variation is clearly reflected in state policies and was examined and discussed in the first national survey on such services (Rotholz, Moseley & Carlson, 2013). Key issues, findings and an example of one state system revision is presentted.
