Product Description:

Developed to support community based professionals working with families and other caregivers. Professionals in clinical practice settings, and instructors in professional programs, can use this manual as a guide for clinical decision making -- handouts to support training for teachers, caregivers, and families and handouts to support lectures and workshops at pre-professional and professional levels. Overview of 1) normal development of oral-motor and feeding skills, 2) neuromotor impairments interfering with child's ability to meet nutritional needs, 3) medical issues and swallowing intervention, 4) decision making to pursue alternative methods of feeding, 5) common feeding/mealtime problems encountered in clinical practice. The problem-based format guides clinical reasoning and helps organize intervention decisions for maximum effect.
