Product Description:
A project about training parents and family members to support the social inclusion of their adult family members living at home. The project determined if strategies that had been used with residential staff could also be successfully used by families. Outcomes included friendships with community members, participants joining community groups and associations, and developing new social roles in community life. The strategies were successfully used, with young adults who ranged from mild disabilities (e.g., autism) to severe disabilities. Differences between training staff and families were noted.
