Ninety-eight mother child dyads, where the child had a developmental delay, were observed interacting and their parental responsiveness and teaching were observed using the Parenting Interaction with Children: Checklist of observations linked to outcome (PICCOLO). Language development was collected on the children. Results indicated responsiveness was the strongest predictor of language outcomes.
