Local Solutions - Initial Quality of Life Report

Product Description:

This study was initiated at the request of Local Solutions, a parent organization that developed a unique residential program for their adult children with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). Local Solutions renovated a building to provide each individual with her or his own apartment in addition to providing shared public space. Local Solutions also identified an agency to provide support to their adult children in the new setting. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the quality of life of six young adults before and after they moved into the new setting. Data collected in year one of this study was used to obtain a baseline measure of the quality of life levels of the residents. Sources of data included quality of life surveys completed by residents and parents, structured interviews with residents and parents, and a review of service plan goals. A second round of data will be collected in year two. This data will be compared to year one results to evaluate the effectiveness of the supports provided to participants in improving their quality of life and to investigate the effectiveness of this unique model in supporting individuals with IDD.
