Product Description:
For an estimated 15 million people with cognitive disabilities in the US there is a significant need for accessible consumer health information. This preliminary research of individuals with DCD navigating W3C accessibility-compliant eHealth Web sites, including MedlinePlus, has studied the impact of four cognitive determinants: situation awareness, spatial awareness, task-set switching, and anticipated system response. It is clear from this study that current Web accessibility guidelines do not sufficiently address the needs of people with cognitive disabilities and further research into the accessibility of eHealth information is needed.
