Real People - Complex Lives; Understanding the Stories of Women and Their Children: Welfare Reform in Georgia
Product Description:
The second in IHDD's series on Georgia TANF Welfare Reform - this book tells the story of women and their school-age children and the problems they face under welfare reform. We began this project interviewing women in order to understand how welfare (TANF reform) was affecting families where one or more members had disabilities. We found out that the problems associated with disabilities were intertwined with other complex problems involving these women's struggles to parent older children who were having ongoing problems in schools, the legal system, and the community.
