This publication is part of IHDD's contribution to the Children's Freedom Initiative, a partnership of agencies working to understand how and why children are institutionalized in Georgia and how we can make sure that all of the children now residing in nursing homes and state hospitals can find permanent homes with loving famiies - and ensure that in the future no child will live in an institution. The stories in this book are told from the point of view of seven families with children who lived (or still live) in institutions.
