Oral health affects all aspects of daily living and people with DD (Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Down Syndrome, and other cognitive disabilities). To achieve and maintain good oral health, people with DD often require special dental care services. Tooth decay, periodontal disease, performing of effective brushing and flossing, malocclusion and damaging oral habits such as teeth grinding and clenching, food pouching, mouth breathing, and tongue thrusting could be a problem for people with DD.
