Product Description:
There are many definitions of visual impairment, blind, visual handicap, partially sighted, and other terms. We chose to define it as so severe that the infant/toddler cannot see what the typical child sees and whose major learning channels will be sensory--tactile, taste, auditory, and smell--as well as any usable residual vision. Additional information regarding prevalence, indicators of visual impairment, common factors that affect vision, classifications, characteristic types, and common physical characteristics are detailed. Information is provided regarding developmental concerns and intervention strategies for teachers and parents.
