The curriculum is designed to introduce people working in the domestic violence/sexual assault field to the disabilities field. The curriculum contains lesson objectives, scripted lessons and accompanying Power Point presentations, references, and test questions. Topics covered include Abuse of Women with Disabilities: Extent of the Problem; Myths,Realities, & Communication; Disability Service Systems;Reasonable Accommodations and Assistive Technology; Heard of Hearing and Deaf; Visual Impairments; Cognitive Disabilities; Mental Illness; Motor Disabilities; Guardianship; Referring Women for Services; Abuse Specific to Women with Disabilities; Barriers to Reporting Abuse; Recognizing Abuse; and Violence Prevention.
