Product Description:

This guidebook assists carers to help older people with mental retardation maintain optimum functioning in nine areas: eating and nutrition; elimination; motor skills; awareness and thinking; communication; relationships; protection and assertiveness; sexual awareness and behavior; and assistance and acceptance. Each of the nine modules includes an overview of age-related changes, guidelines for detecting changes in function, and easy-to-implement activities to help individuals maintain optimum functioning. The guidebook also contains an overview of the aging process and a resource directory for additional information on aging with mental retardation.
