Product Description:

Revised monograph - Hearing loss is a reduced ability to hear (Kochkin, 2005). Hearing losses are defined in terms of the degree of loss (mild, moderate, severe, and profound), age of loss (pre-lingual, post-lingual), and type of loss (conductive, sensorineural, and mixed). It is important to understand the child's needs. Environmental and instructional modification may greatly benefit the individual (Kirk, Gallagher, and Anastasiow, 1997). A mild hearing loss may not be identified until academic performance indicates a problem. Infants and toddlers learn about communication from facial expressions, lip and head movements, gestures, touch, and voice vibrations around them. Early education programs focus on infants, home, and family.
