Moving From School to Adulthood: The Role of Circles of Support in the Transition Process

There is a significant need to identify and foster support that reaches beyond agency services and reduces the individual's dependency on publicly funded bureaucracies. New Hampshire's Project School to Work helped to develop and facilitate circles of support for fifteen high school students who were enrolled in special education and their families. This project provided the opportunity to observe first hand how circles of support met challenges, solved problems, and created opportunities.
