A K-5 curriculum promoting understanding and appreciation of different perspectives, leading to respect for diversity and support for truly inclusive school communities. The 24 lessons are clustered in four units: My Perspective, Other Perspectives, Understanding Conflict, and Working Together. Among the lesson topics are I Have Feelings; Valuing the People in My Community; Step Into Someone Else’s Shoes; What It Means to Be a Family; I Can Stop to Make a Choice; and How You Are Makes a Difference. It is designed for use in classrooms where students with and without disabilities learn together; suggested adaptations are included. A unique feature is a focus on strengthening home-school partnerships through communicating lesson content to families, with suggestions for families to follow in exploring the material. The lessons use 19 story books available through most bookstores and school libraries.
