This document reports on the findings of the 2001 national survey of state directors of special education. Findings are presented on state and district assessment participation and performance, accommodations, alternate assessment, reporting, and accountability systems. The report also highlights several related topics, including state activities in assessment of students with disabilities who are limited English proficient, and how states are addressing standards on IEPs.
