Paige was an original member of CCI’s Consumer Advisory Committee and played an integral role in shaping the Center’s mission, purpose, and early initiatives. Paige was also involved in one of our early efforts to support the development of a statewide self-advocacy organization for individuals with developmental disabilities. Speaking Up For Us of Maine, a federally funded project, was and continues to be guided by Paige’s vision and passion. Paige provided leadership, mentoring, and support to this project, as well as to many individuals across the state who were inspired by her accomplishments and all she brought to her work. Paige’s life, as told in Dr. Putnam’s book, Beyond All Expectations, truly embodies the spirit, intent, and desires of all we do and seek to do at The University of Maine Center for Community Inclusion and Disability Studies.
