Family Engagement and Children's Outcomes
Product Description:
This study details the findings of a larger evaluation project conducted during the year 2009-2010. The purpose of this project is to evaluate the effectiveness of an educational program serving low-income families and their children in a Midwestern school district. Using secondary data analysis, this project answered four research questions: a) What are the major components of the program? b) What are the characteristics of children and families being served? c) How is this program reaching out and engaging families in meaningful ways? and d) What are the outcomes of families and children being served?. The participants were children ranging from 2 weeks to five years in age and their parents. High-quality evidence of meaningful family engagement and positive outcomes for families and their children indicate important implications for families, school and family support professionals, and policy makers.
