Product Description:
Autism is a neurological disorder that impacts functioning in the areas of social interaction, communication, and behavior, presents by age 3, and varies in its severity. The early detection of ASD is crucial so that effective treatment can be initiated as soon as possible. However, it is important to demonstrate that an early ASD diagnosis is valid and reliable. The aims of this study were three-fold: 1. To investigate the degree to which a child retains the diagnostic features of ASD from preschool to 7 - 12 years of age. 2. To examine additional variables of outcome, including educational setting and parent-rated autism symptoms. 3. To examine the role of early intervention and outcome, and to document use of alternative (Complementary and Alternative Medicine, CAM) and private therapies. Trainees will develop a research question, interview subjects, develop an abstraction form, review medical records for data, work with a database and participate in data analysis.
