Product Description:
Adapted and modified by the Texas Center for Disability Studies and the Texas Developmental Disabilities Network from material originally developed by a consortium in New Mexico led by the Center for Development and Disability at the University of New Mexico, this 24-page booklet resource contains easy-to-read pages with quick information about how to assist persons with a wide range of disabilities.
Each page is designed (ring-bound and laminated) for use by first responders, and other emergency personnel, who may be unfamiliar with people with these and similar disabilities, or are unsure about how to interact with them. We disseminate the booklets to organizations in Texas such as Red Cross chapters, EMS/trauma systems, law enforcement agencies, federal, state and local disaster relief agencies, county extension agents, and non-profit organizations that support individuals through homeless shelters.
