E.2 This is a graduate MPH course designed for students in the Oregon Master in Public Health program. It is designed to introduce graduate students to basic concepts and methods used in epidemiology. Epidemiology is a core set of methods (a toolkit) used in many research efforts in public health and clinical research, across humans and other animals, and in local, state, national, and international agencies and industries, in public and private settings. This course introduces the concepts, principles and methods of epidemiology. It also teaches how to apply epidemiologic methods to answer questions about the distribution of disease, death, disability and risk exposures in populations, as well as those relating to causal relationships between exposures and health outcomes.
