In response to research question: Do teacher-child relationships influence 2-year-old and 4-year old childrens mental and motor performance in the ECLS-B?, it was found that, for 2-year-olds, there were higher mental scores for children who were girls, had higher SES, or had teacher-child sensitivity. For 4-year-olds, literacy scores were higher for children who were older, female, had higher SES, or were Asian American; there were lower literacy scores for children who were Hispanic American, had teacher-child ethnic match, or had teacher-child conflict.
For 4-year-olds math scores, there were higher scores for children who were older, female, had higher SES, or were Asian American; and lower math scores for children who were African or Hispanic American, had teacher-child conflict or harshness.
