RENEW Expands in New Hampshire!

The Center for RENEW Implementation has received a grant from the NH Charitable Foundation to provide the RENEW (Resilience, Empowerment, and Natural Supports for Education and Work) model in New Hampshire to youth and young adults involved in the juvenile justice system or who are in residential treatment.

KU and UNC Collaborate on Propel Project

Launched in 2020, the Propel Project will examine the impact of a comprehensive intervention combining the Self-Determined Learning Model of Instruction and Peer Supports, on academic, social, and functional outcomes for autistic secondary students in inclusive general education classrooms. This collaboration between the University of Kansas (KU) and the University of North Carolina (UNC) is led by KU Center on Developmental Disabilities Director (KUCDD) Karrie A. Shogren, KU Juniper Gardens Children's Project Director Brian Boyd, KUCDD Assistant Research Professor Sheida K. Raley, and UNC Associate Professor Kara Hume.

Excellence in Autism Support Award Goes to Delaware UCEDD Research Manager

For her "Outstanding Research on Autism in Higher Education," Jessica Monahan, research manager with the University of Delaware Center for Disabilities Studies' Spectrum Scholars program, has won an inaugural Excellence in Autism Support award from the College Autism Network.

It's Up to You: Reaching Out to DSPs

Wisconsin UCEDD SaferKids Program

Benji is a bright-eyed and energetic six-year-old. He and his two brothers keep their mom, constantly on her toes. But Benji, who was recently diagnosed with autism, was exhibiting some behaviors that were leaving his mother fearful for his safety. While at the Waisman Center Benji's mother mentioned her concerns to one of the clinic's family navigators. That's when she was told about the Waisman Center's SafterKids program.

Georgetown UCEDD Creates COVID-19 Video Series featuring Family Physician

The Georgetown UCEDD created a COVID-19 video series featuring a family physician, called "Ask Dr. Kim." This series answers questions like "What is COVID-19?" and "What is all the talk about needing a booster shot?"

UCEDD Tip Sheets

Tip Sheets are intended to provide guidance and share peer practices of specific aspects of UCEDD operations, grant management, and core grant application development. Tip sheets clarify requirements outlined in the DD Act, related federal regulations, and/or AIDD's Quality Review System processes as appropriate; and also share experiences and recommendations from network peers.

AUCD Launches New Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Hub website

AUCD is excited to launch the Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Hub. This new hub expands the former Diversity & Inclusion Toolkit, to now host a broad array of existing resources related to equity, diversity, inclusion, and cultural and linguistic competence. The hub includes a new Resource Crosswalk as well as episodes from AUCD's new podcast, AUCD Network Narratives: Real Stories from our Members.

2021 Report on UCEDD-University Relationships and Agreements

This new report explores the relationships between UCEDDS and their home university by analyzing responses to a fall 2020 survey on UCEDD-university relationships and shared Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) or other official agreements. It explores commonalities and unique features of these relationships and offers some guidance for UCEDDs revisiting their agreements or relationships.
