Product Description:
Although existing cross-sectional research suggests that care-recipient resistive behavior (CR-resistance) can be challenging for family caregivers, we are not certain about what aspects of CR-resistance most influence caregiver emotional/physical well-beingaverage frequency vs. daily fluctuation. To document caregiver experiences of CR-resistance, the present study applied a quantitative/qualitative mixed-methods design. Multilevel Modeling analyses of 8-day daily data from 63 caregivers revealed that neither frequency nor daily fluctuation in CR-resistance alone had a significant impact on caregiver emotional/physical health. However, the combination of having relatively high frequency and high daily fluctuation in CR-resistance had a significant impact on caregiver physical health (b = .34, p < .01). Qualitative thematic analyses of in-depth interviews (n = 19) provided supportive evidence and further insights.
