Product Description:
Teacher self-efficacy refers to teachers' beliefs in their ability to motivate and promote student learning (Bandura, 1997), which relates positively to program quality and student outcomes (Armor et al., 1976). To address methodological and conceptual limitations of previous instruments, Tschannen-Moran and Hoy (2001) developed the Teachers Sense of Efficacy Scale (TSES) with three subscales: Instruction, Management, and Engagement. A few studies have studied the Teachers' Sense of Efficacy Scale through confirmatory factory analysis or Rasch modeling (Khairani & Razak, 2012; Tschannen-Moran et al., 2001). To test the internal structure of TSES further, the current study compared unidimensional, correlated factors (MIRT), and bifactor item response theory (IRT) models. Among the three IRT models, the one-factor model had the most parsimonious fit, according to recommended RMSEA, WRMR, CFI, and chi square model fit statistics.
