When students with disabilities have no friends we need to look beyond that students characteristics to the classroom and school cultures that may be unintentionally setting students apart. Too often people rush to create special friendship circles or clubs without addressing the root causes of students loneliness and isolation. Often the first step in maximizing students social relationships is undoing things that are putting barriers between students with and without disabilities. Participants in this webinar will take away several concrete ideas for including students themselves in the work of creating schools where disability is considered a natural part of the human experience.
