Paths to Equity: Parents in partnership with UCEDDs fostering Black family advocacy for disabled children

This paper discusses the importance of parent advocacy for Autistic children, the barriers that Black families face when interacting with service delivery systems, and the importance of culturally competent programming for Black families to dismantle historical trauma and harm from educational and medical institutions. UCEDD efforts to promote Black family leadership in program development and implementation is summarized. Recommendations for future practice at UCEDDs is provided.
