Product Description:
Sensory interventions are designed to address sensory processing difficulties in young children. In recent years, sensory interventions have gained popularity and are the most frequently requested intervention for children with autism, despite having limited empirical support. A variety of sensory interventions have been developed to create these controlled sensory experiences for young children with autism and other disabilities. Although their use is widespread, the research on sensory based interventions is limited by a lack of controlled, rigorous studies and clear guidelines/procedures for their use (Reichow et al., 2010; Schaaf, 2011). The purpose of this review was to synthesize this research and determine the evidence for practice. The literature review examined comprehensive sensory integration treatmentsweighted / pressure vests, auditory interventions, and therapy balls.
