The AUCD Emerging Leaders Map highlights the contributions of diverse trainees across AUCD's network. Each person was selected for inclusion on the map based on their contributions to the network, how they have demonstrated leadership, and their values and commitment to diversity, inclusion, and respect for others. You can click the pins in each state to learn about the different programs and centers, as well as the activities that trainees are involved in. The Emerging Leaders Map is a great way to explore ongoing activities in the network, to brainstorm ideas for your program or center, and to use as a networking resource for future opportunities!
This project was created and developed by the 2016-17 AUCD Emerging Leaders Interns, Elizabeth (Liz) Schmidt and Sheida Raley. We also want to thank the 2017-18 AUCD Emerging Leaders Interns, LaKesha Pettigrew and Brett Enneking, for their time and efforts to implement the inaugural 2018 AUCD Emerging Leaders Map. Each year, the Map is maintained by the current Emerging Leaders Interns.
The theme of the 2022 Emerging Leaders Map is “Supporting Resiliency and Self-Determination for All.”
The theme of the 2021 Emerging Leaders Map is "Promoting Health Equity: Identifying Access Barriers and Protecting Rights to Services for People with Disabilities." Thank you to the 2020-21 AUCD Emerging Leaders Interns, Kiki Oyetunji and Jessica Huddleston.
The theme of the 2020 Emerging Leaders Map is "Enhancing Access: Opening Doors with and for People with Disabilities." We feel that ‘Access’ can be defined in many ways, whether it is access to appropriate medical care and/or evaluations, mental health and community services, jobs, access to new research projects or creating accessible spaces. Thank you to the 2019-20 AUCD Emerging Leaders Interns, Meghan Breheney and Jazmin Burns.
The theme of the 2019 Emerging Leaders Map is "Centering People with Disabilities/Disabled People. "Centering" means that PWD/DP are at the core of our work. It requires actively listening to and respecting people with disabilities/disabled people and their needs and wants within our communities. Thank you to the 2018-19 AUCD Emerging Leaders Interns, Shayla Colins and Nell Koneczny.
